Black King Oyster (Pleurotus Ostreatus - Hybrid)
This is my personal favourite mushroom (currently). These mushrooms were created in japan a few years ago by crossing asian ostreatus with european ostreatus. Contrary to the hard and dense stem of oyster mushrooms, the black pearl mushrooms have a softer stem. The stem, in our opinion, is the best part of this mushroom.
The black pearl mushrooms are loaded with vitamin b and vitamin c, which makes them a great addition to your dietary routine. In addition, the mushrooms have iron and calcium, which helps strengthen the bone and prevent the chances of lethargy. There are antioxidants in the mushrooms that help fight the free radicals, which protects you from cancer.
Flavour & Texture
I have heard several children at our markets refer to it as the "Chicken" tasting mushroom, I'm not sure how accurate that is but I have heard it several times now. This mushrooms taste and texture make it perfect for any dish.
All in all, the black pearl mushrooms taste incredible in pasta, soups, stir-fry’s, sandwich’s, you name it!

Our cultures are obtained from Rootlab, which is an independent mycology laboratory located in Sydney. Rootlab specializes in the maintenance and development of both high yielding commercial strains and native strains of mushrooms.
While there are numerous sources of cultures available in Australia, we believe that Rootlab stands out due to their exceptional quality. We have achieved outstanding results using their cultures and would strongly encourage others to consider them as well.
