Place your block on its side and where the block presses against the plastic, take a sharp clean knife and make a 10-12cm cut along this part of the bag (you could cut an “x” shape or a simple line).
Place your sliced bag in a humid part of your home (near the kitchen sink or bathroom). Make sure it is kept away from direct sunlight, and keep it well hydrated. Do this by spraying the outside of your block, over the sliced area, with water at least once per day but preferably 2-3 times.
The mushrooms can take 2-6 weeks to fruit, but will usually appear within 5-7 days. Once they appear, keep watch, they grow very fast and will be ready to harvest in 7-21 days. Harvest them all at once by gently grasping the mushrooms at the base, twist and pull.

FYI I am time poor and lazy so I just grew the kit on my breakfast bar and no temperature issues at all. The hard part is remembering to spray a bit of water on the kit in the morning and night. Good MUSHY luck everyone!
I purchased the Chestnut Mushroom grow kit with a few other kits and so kept these guys in the fridge for two and a half months and after a week or two of opening them, they've exploded into a very abundant first harvest. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and would definitely recommend!

Easy to grow and amazing yield. It's so fun watching them grow from pinning stage to large chunky King oyster mushrooms in less than a week! I harvested them a tad late but nonetheless they were still very tasty.
The mushroom kit arrived quickly, the mushroom grew quickly and I think I harvest it too quickly! It had become the size of a cauliflower within 2 weeks from receiving the log, and I thought it was ready. But it tastes and smells superb. The assistance I received via email was also great. Only took 7 days to harvest the first batch, one was as big as my hand! Very easy to do. Great for the whole family to watch them grow. Brett was very helpful and answered all my beginners questions.I will try for a second flush next.
After a faltering start, I am loving the pink oysters. The Mushroom guy could t have been more helpful and willing to beget me back on track. From now on, gourmet mushrooms for me!

Start of the mushroom growth happened just one day after initial misting up here & they grew really quickly & looked spectacularly beautiful - like a tropical coral! Their taste in (risotto & omelets) was beautiful too.

Initially, the substrate didn't seem entirely colonised, as is common with this species, yet pinning began just a few days after air exposure. The fruiting bodies are now approx 5 inches in diameter after a week and a half. I'm very impressed with the quality of this kit.
To continue my mycological endeavour, I intend to proliferate the mycellium on a mix of hardwood pellets and bran after the second flush.

Absolutely outstanding purchase! Fool proof! We done EVERYTHING WRONG and still harvested 1kg pink oyster and 1 kg lions mane first flush!! Hooked now and re ordering as coles/Woolworths mushrooms are like cardboard compared to these top shelf mushies!!
